Today's round-up includes information on the newest Cinemaware Marquee acquisition, the results of the annual
Madden NFL Super Bowl prediction match, and the deluxe packaging for the European release of
Shadow of the Colossus, as well as today's GameSetWatch articles, product news and Gamasutra job postings.
- Cinemaware Marquee, the arm of the eGames-acquired
Defender Of The Crown developer
recently formed to distribute independent PC games, has announced its next acquisition after
Space Rangers 2 and
Neighbors From Hell: On Vacation:
Buccaneer's Bounty, a compilation of three pirate-themed strategy games. The package will include pirate RTS
Port Royale 2, seafaring sim
Tortuga, and trading simulation
Patrician III. "Our goal at Cinemaware Marquee is to release epic, top quality games from all over the world, and
Buccaneer's Bounty delivers on every level," said eGames VP of Development Lars Batista. "For RTS fans, this compilation of three top notch games will be the best gaming value you can get."
- The annual results of the
Madden NFL match to predict the winner of this year's Super Bowl have been announced by Electronic Arts for the upcoming Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Seattle Seahawks game. According to the AI matchup between the two teams using the Xbox 360 version of
Madden NFL 06, the Steelers won by 24-19 in a close match. The real-world Super Bowl XL will take place on February 5th, broadcast by CBS, where viewers will be able to see if the
Madden simulation plays out accurately.
- Sony Computer Entertainment Europe will give PAL players a lavish package for the release of
Shadow of the Colossus in a rather larger promotional push than the game received elsewhere: the game will come in special cardboard packaging with four art postcards inside, and the disc will contain video interviews with director Fumito Ueda and producer Kenji Kaido. Also present on the disc will be a gallery containing concept art and stills from the game, as well as the original trailer for
Ico, the team's first game. In addition, players can register at
the official game site to submit questions to the development team, and enter an art competition judged by Ueda, the grand prize of which is a trip to Nepal.
