PC, DS Action Titles To Dominate TGS Show Floor

It looks like exhibitors will show mostly PC, mobile, and Nintendo DS titles at this year's Tokyo Game Show, the majority which are action games, according to a preliminary tally by conference organizers.
Exhibitors will show off mostly PC, mobile, and Nintendo DS titles at Tokyo Game Show 2008, according to a preliminary tally released by conference organizers and translated by game weblog Kotaku. As it stands, the Wii is listed as having the biggest presence of the major home consoles at the event. The count, however, does not yet include games from platform holders Microsoft and Sony, as well as several major publishers, such as Square Enix, Namco Bandai, Konami, and Capcom. The complete listing is as follows: PC - 98 titles Nintendo DS - 78 titles Mobile - 76 titles Wii - 27 titles Xbox 360 - 14 titles PlayStation Portable - 13 titles PlayStation 3 - 12 titles PlayStation 2 - 8 titles Other - 136 titles Exhibitors intend to demonstrate at least 27 development tools and 51 peripherals at TGS 2008. Event organizers also posted a count for the genres of the games slated to appear so far, with action titles leading the list by a wide margin: Action - 90 titles RPG - 35 titles Puzzle - 25 titles Simulation - 22 titles Sports - 20 titles Adventure - 14 titles Shooting - 11 titles Racing - 3 titles Other - 164 titles This year's Tokyo Game Show will be held at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba, Japan from October 9 to 12. Though the first two days will be open only to the press, the general public is invited to attend on the last two days.
