Sierra Entertainment has announced that the UK's Kuju Entertainment will be bringing Bizarre Creations' massive hit Xbox Live title Geometry Wars
to Nintendo's Wii and DS as a mission-based game called Geometry Wars: Galaxies
As opposed to the Xbox Live version's effectively spartan story-less presentation, Geometry Wars: Galaxies
puts players in the role of "defending solar systems one by one, defeating waves of alien enemies on new and classic Battle Grids" across the galaxy.
As would be expected, the Wii and DS versions have both been optimized for their respective platforms, reconfiguring the experience to use the Wii's remote and nunchuk, and the DS' touch screen in place of the original's dual-analogue control.
In addition to its single player campaign, Galaxies
will also feature a number of multiplayer modes including hot seat, co-op, simultaneous and versus modes.
The game will also feature bonus content when the DS and Wii versions are linked via wi-fi, online leaderboards for the Wii version, and a full version of the Xbox Live original Retro Evolved
Sierra SVP Al Simone commented of the announcement: "The Geometry Wars: Galaxies
video game is an entertaining title blending old-school arcade fun with next-gen gameplay and action. We are excited to bring the Geometry Wars
brand to the Nintendo platform as both the Wii and DS enable a fun and frenetic experience for gamers."
