SMU Guildhall Academy Receives GamePro Sponsorship

Southern Methodist University's Guildhall Academy, a game development summer camp aimed at local area middle school and high school students, has received a GamePro sponsorship that includes guest lectures, contests, and a scholarship.
The Guildhall at Southern Methodist University in Plano, Texas, announced that GamePro Magazine and Gamepro.com are sponsoring the Guildhall Academy, a game development summer camp aimed at local area middle school and high school students. The Guildhall Academy is a two-week course in which students create 2D video games using Microsoft's XNA technology and an SMU starter kit. The resulting games can be played on a PC or an Xbox 360 console. GamePro's sponsorship includes a peer-review game development contest, a $1,000 scholarship for Guildhall Academy, and an SMU discussion regarding career opportunities in the gaming media, to be moderated by a GamePro guest lecturer. GamePro will additionally feature a selection Guildhall student-created games on Gamepro.com. Admissions for the August 2009 session of the Guildhall Academy program are open until May 22nd. A public event showcasing games developed by Guildhall graduate students will be held at Southern Methodist University on Friday, May 15th.
