MMOG developer and publisher CCP announced today that it has licensed NaturalMotion's morpheme animation middleware software and plans to integrate it into
EVE Online and other upcoming unannounced projects.
Morpheme gives developers and animators creative control over in-game animations, allowing them to "author and preview blends, blend trees and state machines in real time." NaturalMotion released a
new version of the advanced animation system yesterday, morpheme 1.3, revealing new features like inverse kinematics (IK) nodes for a range of common tasks and a fully scripted user interface.
"As a valuable addition to our technology arsenal, morpheme will support CCP's drive to deliver vivid expressiveness to the avatars populating EVE and beyond," said Thor Gunnarsson, Vice President of Business Development at CCP.
