Officials from French publisher and developer Ubisoft have confirmed a new May 2008 release date for Free Radical Design’s much delayed first person shoot ‘em-up
Haze, with the game still being solicited only on the PlayStation 3 format.
The title, from the British creators of the
TimeSplitters series, has undergone a particularly lengthy development process, having originally been announced for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in 2006, for a release in early 2007.
The release date has been repeatedly amended since then, with the game
missing a late December release date before being pushed into 2008. Although Ubisoft has stopped short of describing the game as a PlayStation 3 exclusive, work on the Xbox 360 and PC versions has been indefinitely postponed since last summer.
Specific reasons for the delays, and the change in formats supported, have always remained obscure, although Free Radical has spoken of its relief at being afforded additional development time to finish the game.
