Spector's Epic Mickey Confirmed For Wii

Disney's worst-kept secret in game development, Warren Spector and Junction Point's Epic Mickey project, has finally been officially revealed as a single-player Wii-exclusive action game due in fall 2010.
Disney's worst-kept secret in game development, the Epic Mickey project, has finally been officially revealed by way of Game Informer magazine. The cover story of the publication's November issue confirms the Junction Point-developed game, which is apparently keeping the "Epic Mickey" codename as its actual title, as being a single-player Wii exclusive shipping next fall. Junction Point is headed up by veteran designer Warren Spector (Deus Ex, Ultima series), who co-founded the studio in 2005 with several other former employees of Ion Storm Austin. Disney acquired the company in 2007. Epic Mickey itself has been the subject of widespread rumor since late 2008, when Gamasutra first revealed the existence of the game. Details released since have indicated that the player uses some kind of painting mechanic as protagonist Mickey traverses through a world inhabited by long-forgotten Disney characters who harbor resentment against the massively-successful mouse. Concept artwork published earlier this year evoked a strong steampunk atmosphere for the game, but the Game Informer cover art, provided by Disney, appears to be closer to the style of more traditional Disney feature films.
