As we reported yesterday, Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIV relaunch last week with A Realm Reborn has been running anything but smoothly. Faced with tremendous server outages, the company previously announced it would be boosting the number of "worlds" made available to players, and also ramp up the number of simultaneous server logins. In addition, today Square Enix announced that FF14 players will receive a complimentary seven-day extension to their free trials to apologize for the recent outages. The game's servers are to go offline this evening from 5:00 pm Pacific to 3:00 am Wednesday morning, in order to facilitate the updates. "Moving forward, we will continue monitoring the servers to ensure that quality service and support are provided in a timely manner," Square Enix said in a statement.
