3D animation company Mixamo and 3D modeling company DAZ Productions today announced a partnerships allowing any of Mixamo's animations to be applied to any of DAZ's 3D human models. The partnership allows any of Mixamo's library of hundreds of animations to work with any model created the DAZ Studio modeling program. The companies claim the combined pipeline can improve productivity by up to 80 percent and reduce costs by up to 75 percent over other 3D graphics and animation options. DAZ 3D community members can see a preview of Mixamo's animations applied to the program's standard characters, Victoria and Michael, on the Mixamo web site, where they can then be customized and downloaded for use in projects. Alternately, users can purchase pre-made 3D models with integrated Mixamo motions or developer licenses to use such characters and animations from the Daz3D online storefront. "The addition of the Mixamo motion collection to our 3D human figures greatly enhances the level of 3D animated content that our community can create," says Dan FarrCEO of DAZ Productions, Inc. "Due to the ease at which users can customize and apply any Mixamo motion to any DAZ 3D character, their ability to create professional animations for their 3D projects increases dramatically.
