WildTangent recently announced plans to release a beta of its new multiplayer capabilities to developers at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) March 20-24. Multiplayer capabilities will expand the functionality of WildTangent's Web Driver platform, opening the door to a new level of immersive media content. WildTangent's Web Driver allows Web developers to harness the new multiplayer capabilities when designing Web pages in Java or JavaScript that communicate in real-time across a corporate LAN or over the Internet, allowing them to create real-time games as well as collaborative applications for the Web. The Web Driver takes full advantage of hardware acceleration, scaling content to an optimal level for each user's machine so that users will experience the same quality of graphics regardless of the speed of their CPU and connection. As a result, interactive multimedia content can be streamed to and cached on a user's machine with minimal wait, allowing for immediate access to information.
