North American television channel Spike TV has announced that Blizzard will debut the two-minute opening cinematic movie from WoW: The Burning Crusade, its hotly anticipated expansion for World of Warcraft, during the upcoming 4th annual VGA Video Game Awards. The event will be held on Friday, December 8 at the University of Southern California’s Galen Center in Los Angeles, and will be hosted by actor Samuel L. Jackson. Though held and recorded on that date, the awards themselves will be shown on Spike TV on Wednesday, December 13 at 10 pm ET/PT, during which the The Burning Crusade will be shown to television viewers for the first time. This year's VGA Video Game Awards event will also feature musical performances from Tenacious D and AFI, along with presenters including hip hop artist 50Cent, NBA athlete Mike Bibby, actor Seth Green, skating legend Tony Hawk, rapper/actor Method Man, and actress Rachael Leigh Cook. VGA organizers also note that more musical acts, presenters and attendees will be announced in the near future. As previously announced, voting for this year’s nominees can be done on the awards official website until Thursday, December 7. Bethesda's epic role-playing game The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion tops this year’s nominations with ten, including “Game of the Year,” “Most Addictive,” and “Best Performance by a Human – Male” for actor Patrick Stewart, as well as “Studio of the Year” for Bethesda Softworks and designer Todd Howard. THQ's Company of Heroes and Microsoft Epic-developed Gears of War have six nominations each.
