Touch! Generations Dominate UK Sales Charts

A total of four Touch! Generations titles have charted in the UK sales top ten this week, with the original Brain Training (aka Brain Age) once again topping the list. It is joined by More Brain Training (aka Brain Age 2) at number six, Sight Training (aka Flash Focus) at number eight and Maths Training at number nine. With Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games at numbers two and three (and at number one in the combined formats charts), the UK market continues to be dominated by software for the Nintendo DS and Wii. According to Chart-Track, the success of Nintendo DS software sales has also been accompanied by a 24 percent increase in hardware sales. There are, however, three new entries in the top ten, with the highest being the Xbox 360 version of first person shoot ‘em-up Frontlines: Fuel of War at number four. The PC version did not chart in the top forty. Mistwalker’s Xbox 360 exclusive Japanese role-playing game Lost Odyssey debuts at number five, with PC expansion pack The Sims 2: Free Time – apparently the last before the release of The Sims 3 – charting at number seven. In the combined formats chart, Ubisoft’s adaptation of TV show Lost appears at number three, although with sales split evenly between the two versions -- the Xbox 360 version coming in at number eleven in the individual format charts, and the PlayStation 3 version at number twelve. Also new is the PSP version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 at number sixteen and, on its second week of release, Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity on the Wii at number twenty-nine. The PlayStation 3 version of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition (oddly the third new entry of the week with the word “Lost” in the title) is also new at number thirty-four. Overall there are eleven Nintendo DS titles in the top forty, with nine titles each for the Wii and PlayStation 3, eight for the Xbox 360, two for the PC, one for the PSP and zero for the PlayStation 2.
