The BBC will host a dedicated video game music concert as part of this year's Proms concert series.

Proms is an eight-week summer season of orchestral classical music concerts, the majority of which are hosted in the Royal Albert Hall in London.

The first ever Gaming Prom will feature music from titles such as Battlefield 2042, Dear Esther, Kingdom Hearts, and Shadow of the Colossus, spotlighting the work of composers including Hildur Guðnadóttir, Sam Slater, Jessica Curry, Yoko Shimomura, and Kow Otani.

"Fantastic worlds, epic adventures, complex characters and huge moral choices – the universe of computer gaming is a natural match for orchestral music, and in the 21st century games have created a huge and passionate global audience for some of the most vivid, ambitious and inventive music currently being written for symphony orchestra," reads the description on the Proms website.

The program will take place on August 1, 2022, at the Royal Albert Hall and will be available to attend in-person. The show will then be broadcast in the UK on BBC Four on Friday, August 5.
