Sega announced that beginning November 1, it will start charging $9.95 a month for unlimited access to SegaNet, its online multiplayer network.
Sega said Phantasy Star Online would be the single game exempt from the new subscription fee, since it runs on a separate server from the rest of SegaNet. Sega has said that SegaNet will support online titles for Xbox and GameCube, and will include features like instant messaging, game tournaments and member profile pages.
