Soccer simulation FIFA 2004 has maintained its number one position in the UK charts for the fourth consecutive week, ensuring that Mario Kart – Nintendo’s biggest Christmas release – entered only at number three. Although the company will be slightly disappointed that it didn’t managed to grab the number two spot from True Crime this is still an impressive performance in one of the GameCube’s worst performing territories. Electronic Arts’ latest Lord of the Rings title also entered at an expectedly high position, although the most interesting aspect of this week’s chart is the poor performance of a number of high profile products, including Amped 2, Beyond Good & Evil, EyeToy: Groove and Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire - all of which failed to chart inside the all formats top forty.
