Havok has announced the release of Havok 1.6 using memory optimized partial polytope (MOPP) technology. MOPP is a new way of compressing bounding volume data for arbitrary polygon meshes, and has a dramatically reduced memory footprint compared with traditional bounding volume approaches without sacrificing any runtime performance. MOPP technology enables game developers to create worlds of a greater size and scope than was previously possible. Other features of the release include further integration of Havok physics with the leading rendering engines and modelers, such as Max and Maya.
