IGN division GameSpy has announced a new upgrade to its game competition statistical tracker technology ATLAS -- previously used in Command & Conquer 3, UT3, and Crysis competitions, with expanded stat tracking, real-time web publishing, and more. GameSpy calls ATLAS "the videogame industry’s only one-stop-shop for publishers and developers to easily create advanced statistical systems for use in tournaments and competition both in-game and on the Web." The new ATLAS suite adds dramatically expanded stat tracking, real-time gameplay stats directly to both web sites or elsewhere through its API, and new leaderboard functionality. GameSpy has also announced a new Teams SDK, which enables gamers to create, manage and join teams through both in-game applications and integrated Web sites, allowing developers to build social applications and providing their users the tools and support to organize themselves into clans or teams. Said GameSpy director Todd Northcutt, “By adding these important new Competition and Teams features to our technology offering GameSpy continues to provide a comprehensive online gaming solution for our publisher and developer partners across multiple platforms."
