Eyetronics is offering its ShapeSnatcher Suite 3.0 at a reduced price to all new customers of Alias|Wavefront's Maya Complete and Maya Unlimited animation software. The full ShapeSnatcher 3.0 Suite contains ShapeSnatcher 3.0, ShapeMatcher 2.0, ShapeReducer 3.0 and Mapping Tools v2.0. The integrated software package transforms an average slide projector and a decent digital camera into a sophisticated 3D scanning and modeling system. ShapeSnatcher models can be imported directly into Maya to produce life-like 3D objects or characters. The ShapeSnatcher system is already being used in animation production, game development, research, engineering and retail to quickly create accurate 3D models from physical objects. The software runs on most PCs using Windows or Linux, as well as on SGI IRIX systems. Since it is a software solution, users can upgrade their computer hardware and digital camera as technology and project requirements dictate. The Eyetronics 3D scanning solution is mobile and can be used anywhere to capture a person or object. Under the terms of the promotion, anyone who buys one of the Maya packages or upgrades to a newer version by May 31, 2001, can get the full ShapeSnatcher Suite 3.0 for $3,750 half the regular price.
