Grid computing technology company 3Tera has announced that they have entered into an agreement with Emergent Game Technologies to explore the integration of grid computing technologies for Emergent's recently announced next-gen platform. Emergent says that 3Tera's AppLogic grid computing technology was a good fit for the performance requirements of its platform, and the AppLogic grid was included as an initial component of the Emergent platform's beta offering. The platform also includes Emergent’s Metrics Element for Online Games, The Emergent Dashboard for analytics and reporting, and an E-commerce and consumer billing package from Aria Systems. Emergent says it will be rapidly adding more services to increase the capabilities of the platform as more and more games migrate online. “As players demand richer and more interactive experiences, the infrastructure required to power new games is becoming extremely complex and expensive,” said Barry X Lynn, Chairman and CEO of 3Tera. “We are thrilled to be working with Emergent to bring utility computing into the online gaming industry.”
