The traditional summer games drought has begun to bite hard in the weekly UK charts, with no new entries in the top ten and a fifth consecutive week on top for Wii Fit. Nintendo’s health-conscious hardware bundle has now enjoyed a total of six weeks at number one since launching in April - after only coming back into full stock in the last few weeks. Sales of Wii Fit were up 13 percent, with Mario Kart Wii - also unmoved at number two – up 11 percent. Indeed, all the Wii titles in the top ten saw rises in sales this week, with THQ’s Big Beach Sports up 4 percent, Wii Play up 12 percent and Brain Training (aka Brain Age) up 4 percent. With no major releases due until next month in the UK, the only new entry was Nintendo DS title Puzzler Collection from Ubisoft at number 26. The semi-budget priced collection includes such stalwart time-passers such as Sudoku, crosswords and wordsearches and is licensed from the popular series of magazine collections. The only other movement of note involves the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, which re-appears at number twenty-seven thanks to retailer promotions. Wii titles Sega Superstars Tennis and Sonic and the Secret Rings also benefit from the current upsurge in Wii sales, with re-entries in the lower half of the chart. Overall in the top 40, there are fifteen titles each for the Wii and Nintendo DS, leaving only six for the Xbox 360, four for the PlayStation 3 and none at all for the PlayStation 2, PSP and PC.
