Take-Two's upcoming Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, like its predecessor GTA3, is currently getting scrutinized by the Australian government, and will likely have to be edited for that country's consumers.
Australia's Office of Film and Literature Classification (OFLC) refused to grant GTA3 an MA15+ rating last year when it was released, causing it to miss the Christmas holiday. Without at least that rating, a game cannot be sold -- unlike the United States, there is no Mature (17+) rating in Australia. James Ellingford, Take-Two's managing director, said that the game would be edited to meet Australian censorship standards, including the removal of the prostitutes that appear in the game.
