The team at Austin-based Crytek USA have revealed their first project, a four-player cooperative action game set in a supernatural version of the 1800s titled
Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age.
You may remember that Crytek founded the studio back in 2013 as a foot in the door of U.S. development, and
filled its ranks with former Vigil Games (
Darksiders) developers cast adrift in the wake of parent company THQ's collapse.
At the time Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli
told Gamasutra that Crytek USA would focus on developing online games, and
Hunt -- which is advertised as a multiplayer "Games-as-a-Service" title for PC and consoles -- seems to fit the bill.
There's some level of procedural generation at work in the level design of
Hunt as well; Crytek claims that players are unlikely to encounter the same encounters or enemies in a second playthrough of a given level.
Crytek plans to open a closed beta program for
Hunt later this year, and further details can be found on the game's
website.
