Valve says Steam Machines 'front and center' at GDC

Valve's hardware plan to enter the living room was eagerly anticipated but seems to have fallen off the map -- but that will soon change, the company says.

Newsbrief: When Valve introduced its Steam Machines initiative in 2013, it seemed like a great idea -- console-like PCs for the living room tied to its game distribution infrastructure. Since then, however, there hasn't been much news on the initiative -- and what little there has, has been inconclusive or even negative.

It's interesting, then to hear a Valve representative tell Game Informer that Steam Machines will be "front and center" at the Game Developers Conference this March; the company had already announced it plans a big presence at the show, which is run by Gamasutra parent UBM Tech.
