Tilting Point acquires majority stake in Korean studio AN Games
AN Games is the studio behind multiplayer strategy title Astrokings.
Free-to-play publisher Tilting Point has purchased a majority stake in Korean developer AN Games for an undisclosed fee.
AN Games is the studio behind multiplayer strategy title Astrokings, and has previously worked with Tilting Point to scale up the project.
Tilting Point claims the deal will elevate its presence in Korea and bolster its expertise within the 4X strategy genre. The company specifically hopes to benefit from AN Games' publishing experience in key Asian markets, with studio having also made inroads in Japan.
"AN Games' team has mastered the 4X strategy genre over the past twenty years, and built both an extremely talented team and an engine which is ideal for integrating IPs," said Samir Agili, co-CEO and president of Tilting Point.
"The acquisition of AN Games is proof of our progressive publishing model, where we successfully grew Astrokings, then merged operations so that we can pursue co-development opportunities and further enhance our publishing across Asia to reach new players."
The AN Games deal is the first acquisition Tilting Point has made since raising $235 million in July 2021. At the time, the publisher said it would use that cash to "aggressively pursue" larger M&A opportunities.
