As part of a video presentation today, Nintendo revealed details about the stereoscopic 3D video recording that its 3DS handheld console will receive next month. The console can currently take stereoscopic 3D photos, but this will be the first time the device will be able to record video as well. The company revealed last month that video recording functionality was on the way. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata explained that users will be able to record videos of up to 10 minutes in length. There will also be numerous other features available to 3DS owners as part of the update, including the ability to create stop-motion animation via interval recording. Iwata noted that the update will come to the Nintendo 3DS as part of a firmware update, due to be released in late November. The update will also see new StreetPass features introduced, including new puzzles in Puzzle Swap, and a new dungeon in Find Mii. The Nintendo 3DS continued to see strong sales in Japan this week, outselling both the PlayStation 3 and PSP combined.
