Square Enix and developer Dontnod Entertainment have inked a deal with the digital division of Legendary Entertainment and transmedia firm Dj2 Entertainment to develop a live-action series based on Dontnod's award-winning 2015 game Life Is Strange.

It's a significant move for Dontnod, which announced earlier today that it's expanding the scope of its operations by strengthening ties to fellow Parisian dev Hesaw, which is changing its name to Dontnod Eleven and collaborating with Dontnod as it prepares to launch its first game.

As is often the case with such deals, scant details are publicly available regarding the proposed Life Is Strange live-action digital series. Dj2 has some experience in this area, having already helped produce an animated series based on 17-Bit's Skulls of the Shogun and live-action footage for the free-to-play multiplayer 'mech shooter Hawken.

This isn't a first for Legendary, either; the entertainment firm has multiple game-centric deals under its belt, including a 2014 deal to make a live-action series based on Myst that has yet to bear fruit.
