The Korean government is investigating allegations that Diablo III developer Blizzard Entertainment is violating the country's commercial laws by refusing to offer refunds on its latest game.

The Korean government is investigating allegations that Diablo III developer Blizzard Entertainment is violating the country's commercial laws by refusing to offer refunds on its latest game. Diablo III launched earlier this month, and sold more than 6 million copies for PC within a week of being available, both at retail and via digital distribution. Korea's Fair Trade Commission raided Blizzard's Seoul offices earlier this week, reports the Korea Times, and secured documents that it says will determine whether the company has in fact broken the law. Kim Hyung-bae, a spokesman for the FTC, said that an investigation is underway, adding, "We have received many complaints from Diablo III users." Hundreds of users have filed formal complaints with the FTC, he said. The FTC is looking to confirm whether the Diablo III signup contract, which states that players cannot receive a refund if they discover problems with the game, is "unfair" when compared to Korea's law on electronic commerce and commercial contracts. Diablo III took South Korea's "PC Bang" cyber cafes by storm earlier this month, with many local game developers and professional surprised by the game's success in the country.
