Europe's Game Connection business and networking convention has announced this year's show will be held in Paris, France, ending 10 years of existence in the Southern French town of Lyon. The new location for the show, which will run December 6 through 8, "will make it easier for attendees from all around the world to commute to Game Connection," and also give the show room to expand, according to an announcement on the show's web site. Since its start in 2001, Game Connection has grown to include over 500 companies from 36 countries, who participate in educational sessions, workshops, social matchmaking events and awards ceremonies. Last year's show was the first to specifically highlight indie games, 20 of which were chosen as "selected projects" by a team of expert judges. Since 2004, a Game Connection America spin-off event has been part of San Francisco's Game Developers Conference. The American event saw 220 participating exhibitors in 2009.
