The School of Cinema & Interactive Media at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, will host a week-long summer program introducing area high school students to potential careers in digital cinema, 3D modeling and animation, and game development. DePaul University’s 2010 Cinema & Interactive Media Summer Academy gives enrolled students a first-hand look at college coursework and the techniques involved in creating modern films, television programs, and video games. Each course day will feature interactive lessons at DePaul's facilities. Laboratory sessions will give students experience with creative media applications such as Adobe CS5, Final Cut Pro, Maya 3D, Microsoft's XNA, and Toon Boom. "DePaul's Summer Academy gives high school students the opportunity to dig into a field they're interested in and decide if it's really something they'd want to pursue at college," said Scott Roberts, associate professor at DePaul's school of Computing and Digital Media. Roberts continues: "The early exposure will help them decide if they are serious about their career choice, and will also give students something valuable to include when they engage in the college admissions process." DePaul University’s 2010 Cinema & Interactive Media Summer Academy will start on Monday, July 26th, and will continue through Friday, July 30th. Enrollment is $750 per student, which includes tuition, courses, and lunches. A limited number of scholarships are available for students with financial need. Scholarship applications must be submitted by June 1st.
