Activision follows EA's lead, forgoes a booth at E3 this year

Activision noted in a blog post today that it will not have its own booth at E3 this year, the first time it has declined to have its own presence on the show floor since 2008.

Activision noted in a blog post today that it will not have its own booth at E3 this year, the first time it has declined to have its own presence on the show floor since 2008.

This could become a bit of a trend, as Electronic Arts announced back in January it would be relinquishing its E3 booth space as well in favor of hosting its own "EA Play" event the day before E3 officially begins.

Activision also seems intent on participating in E3 this year, though it's yet unclear how it plans to do so. Presumably, the publisher's games will take up space in its partners' booths and press events.

"We’re going to be at E3 showcasing gameplay from Infinity Ward’s ambitious new game," reads an excerpt of the aforementioned blog post. "We're looking forward to sharing exciting new details about the next great Call of Duty game in partnership with our friends at PlayStation."

The company's most recent earnings report (which does not include the effects of its recent $5.9 billion King acquisition) shows its finances taking a tumble, alongside confirmation that it does not plan to release a new Destiny game in 2016.
