$25,188: The median for crowdfunded games in the last six months

Want to know what you can expect to earn if you crowdfund a game and hit your target? Someone has done the math -- and shared a bunch of stats.
Joystiq today published the latest in its Crowdfund Bookie reports, sharing that $23 million has been raised by successfully funded video game projects on Kickstarter and IndieGoGo in the last six months, with the median amount raised by these projects hovering at $25,188. The average raised on these crowdfunding sites for video game projects, conversely, was $128,573 -- skewed upward by a handful of very successful games. While there were significant successes -- such as Keiji Inafune's Mighty No. 9, which pulled in close to $4 million on Kickstarter -- most games don't get remotely close to that number. Joystiq's report breaks down the projects by genre, noting that strategy was the most-funded, earning close to $7 million, with action coming in second; action games, however, accounted for more projects. Of course, these two platforms aren't the only potential sources of crowdfunding. Chris Roberts' Star Citizen has pulled in over $24 million in the last six months; Mighty No. 9 actually raised over $4 million when you add in pledges that came outside of its Kickstarter campaign.
