Sony Online Entertainment has announced that registration in now open for its annual Fan Faire social gathering event, being held at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas from August 2-4. The event, now in its fifth year, offers a venue for players of Sony Online Entertainment's MMO titles to meet in person, as well as to meet the games' developers and try out as yet unreleased titles on SOE's pipeline. Company officials project that this year's event will draw more than 1500 attendees. The event will also feature a poolside party, the SOE player 'Hall of Fame' inductions and ceremony, and How-To forums, including a special workshop for game enthusiasts interested in breaking into the industry. Among those games to be demonstrated at this year's Fan Faire will be a playable demo of Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising, a new subscription-based MMORPG to be co-published this fall by Perpetual Entertainment and SOE subsidiary Platform Publishing. Other games scheduled to be featured at the event include Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, Star Wars Galaxies and The Matrix Online, as well as EverQuest, EverQuest II, EverQuest Online Adventures and PlanetSide. "Fan Faire is an example of SOE's commitment to our dedicated and passionate fan base of players," said Alan Crosby, director of community relations for Sony Online Entertainment. "A majority of this year's attendees will have been actively playing our titles for many years and this event is a terrific opportunity to provide them with a 'thank you' in the form of a fun-filled and community-driven weekend experience."
