Spinor GmbH has launched a new version of its Shark 3D engine, incorporating new graphics and networking capabilites. Version 4.3 of Shark 3D uses a new "re-entrant modular shader system", described by the company as a system which breaks down rendering features into small shader components and provides a universal shader component configuration and communication framework. The new Shark 3D engine can dynamically update external resources, so that developers can, for instance, modify geometry in 3D Studio Max, assign shaders or modify light parameters, and update these changes directly into the running game engine. Shark 3D also provides new networking functionality, including state updates and client-side state prediction.
