Sega's American and European divisions have announced that they will publish the next game from Obsidian Entertainment in their respective territories next year. The game will be an original-IP role playing game for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The partnership is one of several Sega has made recently, alongside deals to publish games from Secret Level, Silicon Knights, Monolith Productions, and Pseudo Interactive. Sega has been seeking to create more Western-oriented games rather than rely so heavily on its in-house Japanese studios. Obsidian is made of former members of Black Isle Studios, and its previous credits include Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. "The development team at Obsidian has 'proven track record' stamped all over it," said Sega of America president and COO Simon Jeffery. "When Sega decided to create a fresh and captivating RPG franchise for new generations of hardware, we immediately knew who we wanted to work with." "We are excited to be working with a great publisher like Sega as they are willing and excited to launch new and visionary IP on next generation consoles," said Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart. "At Obsidian, our focus is to make exceptional games and we see Sega as a true partner in achieving that goal for our next epic RPG."
