ScanSoft, Inc. has announced the release of its family of VoCon Gaming Speech Software Development Kits for free download and evaluation by qualified game developers. The VoCon SDK enables advanced voice recognition features in PC, PlayStation 2 and Gamecube games. Current games utilizing the kit include Sony’s SOCOM: U.S. Navy Seals and Nintendo’s Mario Party 6. Key features of the Speech SDK include scalable vocabulary, speaker-independent acoustic models, major European and Asian voice support as well as adult and child voice models, multiple recognition modes including intercom capability, and support for customization to optimize system performance.
