New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts will begin offering an MFA degree program in animation and digital arts at its Asia campus in Singapore. The deadline to apply for the inaugural program, which will begin in the Fall 2008 semester, is January 8. [Updated Jan. 11, 2008: Officials from NYU have extended the deadline to apply to February 1, 2008.] NYU Tisch School of the Arts Asia opened in Singapore last year with a class of MFA film production candidates. Tisch Asia is located on a three-acre campus in the central region of Singapore. Jean-Marc Gauthier, a faculty member in the animation and digital arts department, explained that the new program will approach animation from many angles. “Students will focus on people gestures, postures, style and expressions, and ways to animate a puppet, a digital character, or even a robotic device. They will explore new forms of storytelling using real time and interactive technologies,” he said. In addition to the new animation and digital arts degree, the Singapore campus will add an MFA degree program in dramatic writing. For more information, visit www.tischasia.nyu.edu.sg.
