In this exclusive Gamasutra feature, Shadowbane developers reflect on the closure of Wolfpack Studios, only to be reborn as the MMO-focused independent studio Stray Bullet Games. Formed primarily of former Wolfpack teammates, the company also recently announced that it had added former Sony Online Entertainment director of development Mark Nausha, as its CEO. Discussing the team's eagerness to continue work on Shadowbane, community manager Sean Dahlberg (better known to fans as Ashen Temper) commented: "We're very excited to keep working on Shadowbane," he said. "Some of us have put years of our lives into it ... the key thing is, and what we want people to know is, we want to rejuvenate it. We want to find ways to shake things up and make it more fun." Elsewhere it was noted that the team learned much from its time spent on the MMO, and that Stray Bullet Games remains devoted to refining the experience offered by its flagship project: As with many MMO changes, some might bother fans in the short term, Dahlberg warned, but he's confident that they'll improve the game long-term. He's also confident in his ability to communicate with players, whom he said can be a useful resource for designers when trying to decide what's best for the game. "We've learned a lot of lessons from Shadowbane. In some cases, we've learned what not to do," Dahlberg said with a laugh. "If you don't make mistakes, you can't learn from them." You can now read the full Gamasutra feature on the topic for more on Stray Bullet games, as well as its upcoming plans (no registration required, please feel free to link to this feature from external websites).
