Opinion: How will Project 2025 impact game developers?
The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
Activision has announced a publishing deal with Spark Unlimited, a studio based in Southern California comprising many of the developers who worked on Electronic Arts' hit title, Medal of Honor.
According to the terms of the deal, Spark will develop three games, the first of which will be a title in the Call of Duty war game series, set for release in 2004. The Call of Duty games are based on wars of the 20th century. EA recently settled a suit with Spark, in which the publisher alleged that 23 employees of Spark had stolen proprietary technology and data from EA, including unreleased code from Medal of Honor games. In the settlement, announced earlier this month, Spark did not admit to any wrongdoing but did say it would return any property from EA that it had in its possession, and paid an undisclosed sum to EA.
