A website URL promoted in the Xbox version of Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six 3 has been found to contain nothing but links to pornographic websites. Apparently a Texan named Tony Ashcraft found that a URL advertised in the game was blank and had not been bought by Ubisoft. Ashcraft then bought the URL and filled it with pornography links. This is not the first time that prominent game URLs have been occupied by so-called “cyber squatters”, as for many months the URL www.gamecube.com suffered from a similar pornographic problem.
