To kindle the passion in every heart with comforting stories, games that strengthens our understanding of the world we live in, full of emotion and humor.

Mastering and understanding the medium is important if we're going to reach that goal. This is an overview of this medium.

Games are set apart from other media by their interactivity. Understanding its impact makes us able to make richer games. All emotion comes from stories. Games are not stories, because stories are linear, but you can tell a story about what you have played. That is why we'll have to make sure to make systems that will let people have good stories.

Being in control and expressing ourself is directly related to our available inputs. On/off buttons are not especially suited for this, that is why an analogue stick is a better choice. It can blend between two values, e.g. emotional states and actions, which gives us the ability to express the meaning of our actions.

Our actions are processed by the computer, which then answers. Laws of Life are rules in the game that reflect aspects of our human condition. These laws determines what the computer answers, and the emotional value it can create. Playing it more, gives more answers, hence more emotions.

Making the whole experience more approachable will strengthen its emotional reach and depth. The clearer the game is, the more people it will appeal to and the more impact it will have on each player.

Approachable, believable and emotional...

This log sums up my previous logs, but there is more left to explore like humor, interactive understanding, thought processes etc.
