Finally our XNA exporter is done!

After over a year we can finally release our XNA exporter! Pretty exciting stuff, the best part is waiting to see what our users come up with and play it on Mobile 7 phones or Xbox 360!

So after over a year our small development team of five guys over at Clickteam has finally completed our next plugin for our Game authoring tool Multimedia Fusion 2. Very exciting for us. After we released MMF2 around 2006 the question came up how do we become more competitive? Up to that point the market our tool serviced was new and growing but did not have much in the way of competitors. We could see on the horizon that others we beginning to catch on to the premise of "Programming without code" and thus we had to be ready to differentiate ourselves from our future competitors. So eventually we decided to make cross platform exporting a priority. Our first successful addon became included with MMF2 in a update and this was several Java porting options. Though Java never exploded in popularity in our user base it did lay the foundation for what was to come.

Around 2010 we completed the first commercial addon for the tool. A exporter that allowed users to take their existing MMF2 projects and port them to a SWF file to be used in Adobe’s Flash Player. The release met with much success and made it possible to expand the team and begin the work of completing the next exporter. In 2011 we released the iOS exporter giving our users the ability to build projects to compile in Xcode for iPods, iPhones and the iPad. I myself enjoyed great success with this option by taking a concept game I did for flash the year before and converted and improved upon it to make “Vincere Totus Astrum” on iOS. So far the most successful indie endeavour I have undertook.

Today however we have finally released the latest module, This time we extend MMF2 to XNA giving our users access to develop on Xbox 360 and Windows Mobile 7. For me the coolest thing will be to see what our users do with it once it gets out to them. What kinda of cool games will I see made with it? The celebration will be short lived, as it’s right back to the grinder as we attempt to finish up the Android exporter and get envolved with Vita and HTML 5!
