After doing some reading this week on the future of VR and how much people are investing into VR I discovered that Goldman Sachs estimates that VR will surpass TV in popularity by 2025, also in 2015 alone VR as a whole raised about 658 million in equity finances.

Something that will have an impact on my work is which platform has the most consumers and at the moment the Samsung gear VR is leading that race, this will have an impact on my work because it would make more sense to build games for a platform with many consumers rather than one that is still in its infancy.

Something else that I found interesting was that investors are starting to look more into what they can add to VR for example, being able to have a headset with built in sensors so that you can walk around with the headset on. I think it would be interesting to see what would happen if they succeeded and in 2025 everyone is walking around playing VR and AR games everywhere.

The most important takeaway is that investors are really starting to take the VR and Ar fields seriously and are starting to put in serious money to produce things that consumers want. Now is a good time to decide if you want to invest in developing for specific platforms or maybe to start developing exclusively for VR.
