The organizers of Gamasutra's sister show the Game Developers Conference recently surveyed 2,500 game developers -- all of whom either attended last year's show or plan on attending GDC 2013 later this month -- to find out more about their development practices and, hopefully, learn where the industry is headed. Among the questions asked was one about mobile operating systems, specifically: For which smartphone platforms is your company actively making games?. A little under 32 percent of you told us that you are not currently working on smartphone games. For the following list, we ignored those responses to find out, of those currently making smartphone games, which platform are you making games for? It should be no surprise to learn that iOS and Android were by far the dominant platforms, though it is notable that around 16% percent of smartphone developers are exploring the possibilities of Windows Phone. PlayStation Mobile and RIM, as one might expect, are not seeing a lot of support at the moment. The breakdown is as follows: iOS: 89.71% Android: 75.45% Windows Phone: 15.6% BlackBerry RIM: 5.03% PlayStation Mobile: 4.62%
