Industry vets are helping NYU Game Center grads sell their games

NYU Game Center is launching an incubator program to give select Game Design MFA graduates resources and advice from industry veterans on turning their projects into commercial games.
New York University's Game Center is expanding its support for student developers by launching an incubator that provides select graduates of the university's Game Design MFA program with funding, space to work and advice from partners culled from the game industry in order to help them build their student projects into commercial games. Seven games developed as thesis projects for the afore-mentioned MFA program have been selected to take part in the NYU Game Center Incubator's trial run, which starts today and runs through the end of August. By the end of the three-month program each project is expected to go public in some form, either as a pitch to a publisher, a Steam Early Access title, a Kickstarter campaign, or the like. Along the way each project will have access to advice and guidance from the incubator's roster of partners, among them folks like Finji Games' Adam Saltsman, Tilting Point VP Giordano Constestabile, Kickstarter VP Cindy Au, and Microsoft's Jason Walters. "The purpose of the Game Center Incubator will be to bridge the work being done within the program with the realities of the marketplace," stated Game Center Director Frank Lantz in a press release announcing the program. "Working with our industry advisors, we are creating a context for cultivating truly innovative and groundbreaking games that can also find an audience and be commercially successful."
