The genre Battle Royale has been one of the most popular in the world of esports in the last two years. Since the release of Minecraft the competition in this genre has been brutal, although the absolute leadership has always been in the hands of Fortnite and PUBG.

Why is Battle Royale so big?

Many games in this strategic mode have become extremely popular for three basic reasons:

1. The thrill of all against all

Taking to the battlefield a Last Man Standing methodology has always been something that raises the adrenaline. Therefore, this tends to be quite popular.

2. The possibility of building

One of the factors that have kept Fortnite at the top of the Battle Royale lists, and all the esports lists for that matter, is the possibility of building and strategically altering the terrain to pose a defense. The availability of resources in the area of defense is a very striking innovation especially to draw the attention of that audience of players who enjoy more of a strategic advance.

3. Mobile availability

Unlike MOBAs, or most MMOs, most Battle Royale games are available in a mobile phone version. This makes it easier to access games and enjoy content no matter where you are, and has allowed a lot of players without time to enjoy the content in their few free minutes.

The future of Battle Royale

As we told you at the beginning of this article, Fortnite and PUBG have been keeping their heads for 2 years now. However, Call of Duty Mobile was released on October 1st backed by a title that is well known to all FPS players.

It is worth mentioning that in the first week of release, this game reached more than 100 million downloads leaving behind, by far, the figures of PUBG (26 million) and Fortnite (22 million) releases.

The Battle Royale of the Battle Royales

Given the popularity of the genre, there are dozens of games available, but even with the arrival of Call of Duty Mobile, only four lead the list for this genre:

PUBG

The original formula of this game launches 100 players in a parachute in a scenario without any kind of equipment that forces them to explore to get weapons and objects, giving the feeling of chance because in addition to the other 99 enemies certain dangers are lurking in the area.

An interesting feature of this game is that it is the only save Royale in the top that allows you to set the display to the first or third person. Something that in itself is very uncommon in any first person shooter.

Fortnite

A game that made a different foray and achieved nothing, but became the Boom of the esports industry with its Battle Royale mode. Fortnite became extremely famous for two simple factors, it is very easy to play and very comfortable to watch.

Also, because it is available for mobile phones, millions of people outside the gaming world dared to download it and play it, becoming the #1 sport with millions of people aware of the Fortnite news.

Apex Legends

An option more focused on the strategic game. Apex Legends forces players to specialize in different skills as if it were a MOBA. Unfortunately, this game only managed to be considered as competition in Fortnite for a short time.

Call of Duty Mobile

At level 7 in this game, you can unlock the Battle Royale mode. Here you'll choose one of six classes, each with a unique skill and Gadget, and begin your fight for survival in front of 99 other players. Is that not enough? Add to this the fact that you'll enjoy playing on maps owned by the main franchise, and that the company has promised to add a zombie mode to it.

In conclusion, which Battle Royale will you play in 2020?
