Ubisoft has announced the opening of a new production studio in Belgrade, Serbia. The new studio already has 15 team members, most of which are programmers, but the company has plans to employ 40 total people in various roles within the coming year.

Game developers or game design students in the area should take note; Ubisoft is actively seeking to recruit new team members and plans to use the studio’s central location in Belgrade to work with local universities and students interested in game development.

Currently, Ubisoft Belgrade is collaborating with other Ubisoft studios on the PC version of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands. In a press release announcing the new studio, the company said that the Belgrade office will also collaborate with other Ubisoft studios like Ubisoft Kiev and Ubisoft Paris on different projects in the future.

“Serbia has a lot to offer in terms of talent, in particular, tech professionals. We’re always on the lookout for high potential markets with the passion, skills, and expertise to create the very best games, and Serbia’s reputation in several key fields makes this investment the perfect match,” said Sebastien Delen, managing director for several of Ubisoft’s Eastern European studios.

“We are bringing years of expertise to the Serbian market and want to contribute to the development of the local gaming industry, as we did for the other countries in the region.”

Ubisoft Belgrade is the fourth studio the company has opened in Eastern Europe, following the creation of Ubisoft Kiev in 2008, Ubisoft Sofia in 2006, and Ubisoft Bucharest in 1992. Overall, the French publisher and developer oversees roughly thirty production studios throughout the world, including one just recently opened in the Philippines
