PCGamer has whipped up an interesting feature to spotlight some of the oldest PC games still being maintained and updated today.
As you can imagine, the piece highlights more than a few blasts from the past, and includes a couple of familiar faces like Ultima Online, StarCraft, and NetHack.
Those included are mainly from the '80s and '90s, and budding historians will be thrilled to hear there's an interesting tale behind each and every one.
Take UnReal World, for instance. The roguelike RPG launched back in 1992, and asks players to survive in a procedurally generated world based on Finland in the late Iron Age.
The game was initially written in Turbo Pascal, but has since been rewritten in C, and after that made the switch from DOS to Windows. More recently, it shuffled on over to Steam, launching on the popular digital marketplace in 2016 at the ripe old age of 24.
Naturally, there are more historical tidbits where those came from, so be sure to check out the full article over on PCGamer.
