Software Engineer - AnimationHarmonix Music Systems

Location: Cambridge, MA

In every facet of their titles, Harmonix strives to innovate, delivering world-class entertainment experiences that garner consistent critical praise and set industry standards for quality and fun.

As an Animation Engineer, you will work closely with artists to bring life and motion to our games' characters on multiple platforms, managing artist-facing tools and pipelines as well as the engine-level animation code.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement robust, user-friendly, artist-facing tools and pipelines.

  • Manage engine-level code for animation playback in game.

  • Write clean, bug-resistant, well-documented and efficient code.

Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • 2+ years of C++ programming for PC or console (game industry a plus but not required)

  • Experience providing great tools or data pipelines

  • Strong applied math skills (linear algebra, geometry, vector math)

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with animation system code (playback, retargeting, compression, IK, etc.)

  • Experience using or writing plugins/scripts for 3D programs (3D Studio Max, Maya, Motion Builder)

  • Some art/animation/computer graphics background or experience working closely with artists
