Audio Programmer, Hangar 13

Location: Novato, CA Let's talk some truth: Making games is hard. It's a collision of art and technology thatas about as predictable as a tornado. There's no secret formula, no foolproof blueprint—but it certainly helps to have a reason for making games in the first place. "Every Player's Story is Unique." At Hangar 13, that's why we make games. Weare currently creating an intense action game set in an immersive world and with a strong narrative, but player agency is at the heart of everything we do. We want to give players the freedom to choose how to overcome challenges and make meaningful decisions that shape the world and characters around them. SUMMARY Hangar 13 is looking for a highly self-motivated audio programmer who enjoys a collaborative and creative work environment. Audio programmers work directly with audio designers and game designers to give them the power to create amazing experiences and to support our culture of iterative design to make AAA games. Create and maintain audio pipelines and technologies based on AudioKinetic WWise, for an unannounced multiplatform game currently in pre-production using proprietary software and technology. RESPONSIBILITIES i Work with an interdisciplinary agile team of audio designers, game designers and engineers to design, prototype, and implement new audio features. i Provide the Lead Programmer with feedback regarding the time allotted to assigned tasks and implementation concerns. i Generate system documentation and test cases for assigned systems. i Collaborate with the QA staff to identify and fix bugs in a timely manner. i Work with proprietary existing software technology and build new technology in order to fulfill the projectas technical requirements. i Adhere to the projectas coding standards. i Research coding techniques and algorithms in order to keep current on technological developments and advancements in the game industry. i Identify technical and developmental risks/obstacles and generate solutions to overcome identified risks. QUALIFICATIONS i Bacheloras degree in Computer Science or related discipline. i 2+ years of programming experience in a creative environment. i Experience developing for games; preferably: action, FPS or 3PS titles. SKILLS i Excellent communication skills with an interest in collaborating with other non-technical disciplines. i Expertise in C/C++. i Experience with AudioKinetic i Wwise. i Ability to learn and master new technologies and code. i Ability to work independently and efficiently under deadlines. i Experience developing for game consoles. i One or more shipped PC or console game titles. i Experience working on multi-platform software projects. i Experience in C#/.NET. i Experience with multi-processor programming.
