Today at Unity's GDC press conference, the company's VP of services, Suhail Dutta, demonstrated the power of the company's new Unity Collaborate toolset. The tools are designed to allow developers to collaborate on projects -- even remotely -- with full online integration.
In a speedy demo during the press conference, Dutta showed how project managers can add new developers via a web-based collaboration tool. Since all developers working on the project can upload their changes from within the engine, others can download the changes and see what they've been doing. There's a user tracker that allows developers to check the work that's been committed by collaborators, too.
You can "open project, download project and files," said Dutta, then "stay in sync with those changes, easily."
"Clicking 'update' pulls those changes down," he demonstrated, showing a game scene changing in realtime at the touch of a button in the engine.
Using Unity Cloud build, new builds can also be set up via the web and easily distributed to team members and testers remotely, even via QR code.
You can find out more and apply for the beta at Unity's site.
